Sruktur dan Fungsi Aquaporin, Protein water-channel

Aquaporin (ACP) is a family of transmembrane protein that facilitates the transport of water across the cell membrane. AQP is a serpentine type membrane protein, having 6 transmembrane domains connected by 5 loops. There are 2 NPA sequence in loop B and loop E, through which water pass. This NPA mot...

description Aquaporin (ACP) is a family of transmembrane protein that facilitates the transport of water across the cell membrane. AQP is a serpentine type membrane protein, having 6 transmembrane domains connected by 5 loops. There are 2 NPA sequence in loop B and loop E, through which water pass. This NPA motif is facing to make a hemi-channel. There are mercurial binding site, glycosilation site and potential phosphorylation site in the molecule. Their locations are different depending on different molecules. Members of this family are distributed widely in many species of Irving organisms, e.g., in microorganisms, plants, and mammalians. The tissue distribution, structure and function of mammalian AQPs, water-channel proteins, are briefly reviewed in this paper. Key words: Aquaporin, Water channel, Trafficking, Rat, Human
