Aflatoxin is mycotoxin produced by Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus parasiticus which grow optimally in Indonesia Rabbit is a succeptible experimental animal for afiatoxin.
Thirty male rabbits (Oryctologus cuniculus species) aged between 4 and 5 months, with body weight varying between 2 and 3 kilograms, were divided into 3 groups i.e. group Ki, K2 and K3. K1 was employed as control group, group K2 was treated with 0,300 ug/kgBW/day aflatoxin B: in 4 month period and group K3 was treated with 0.625 ug/kgBW/day aflatoxin 91 in 4 month period Creatinine and urea clearance, as well as the specific gravity of the urine, were determined every 2 weeks during the experiment.
The results showed that on the week before treatment, the creatinine clearance of group K1, K2 and K3 were 9.27, 9.13 and 9.49 respectively. After 16 weeks of the treatment cretinine clearance of K1 increased non significantly to 9.93, while those K2 and K3 decreased significantly to 4.91 and 2.4 respectively. Before the treatment the urea clearance of KI, K2 and K3 were 10.89, 10.86 and 10.87 respectively, and after 16 litwbe of the treatment the urea clearance ofK1 increased nonsignificantly to 12.07, while K2 and K3 decreased significantly to 6.29 and 2.72. Before the treatment, the specific gravity of Kl, K2 and K3 were 1.022, 1.022 and 1.022 respectively. After 16 weeks of the treatment the specific gravity decreased nonsigni ficantly to 1.020, 1.016 and 1.011 respectively.
In conclusion, aflaloxin B: administered to rabbits with a dose of 0.626 ug/kgBW/day and 0309 ug/kgBW/day caused a significant decreased of the creatinine and urea clearance of animal. The higher the dose of aflatoxin B1 administered the bigger the decrease of the clearance. The specific gravity was-not affected by the treatment
