The aim of this study is to find the extend of the socio-economic factors (level of education, occupational status, economic status) and the demographic factors (parity and age at first marriage) which may affect child and infant mortality rate.
In this study, ever married women or housewive are selected as samples, while villageS are chosen as sample units, both of which are taken by way of purposive sampling technique. Seventeen sample villages and 1064 respondents forming 10 percent of the total households are selected through simple random sampling. Data were analyzed using product momet correlation, multiple regression and partial correlation.
The results of the study are (1) the five factors observed contribute as much as 19.6 percent on mortality rate, (2) age at first marriage and level of education have a major influence on infant mortality, (3) age at first marriage and level of education have both a negative relation with infant mortality rate, (4) there is a significant relation among the independent variables X (rid |
