description The aim of this research is to study the possibility of a NPN transistor to be used as an alpha particle detector. This study used Am-241 as the source and a transistor operated with open base and bias voltage 40 volts and current 3 amperes as a detector. This study also used a preamplifier with amplification of 40 times. The results of this research will be verified with TRIM software. The results indicate that alpha radiation can increase the leakage current with the highest amplitude of -22.74 dB in vacuum 45 kPa or 2 mV on oscilloscope.
