The subjects of the study consist of 49 persons. Ten persons (20,40%) occasionally had family visits and they were cared rapidly, 25 person (51.02%) have frequent family visits and they were cured rapidly, 11 person (22,44%) had occasional family visits and they were cured slowly, 3 persons (6,12%) had frequent family visits and they were cured slowly. The study is in form of descriptive analytic research which is performed retrospectively with use of sample consists of secondary data from Surakarta RSJ, i.e, patients with heavy depression admitted in RSJ from 1 October 1989 till 31 December 1989. The results significantly that those patients who had frequent family visits are rapidly cured compared with those patients who had frequent family visits are rapidly cured compared with those patients who had occasional family visits (x = 10.07, db = 1, ID= 0.01, KK = -0.45). On the contrary, in patients with mania there was no strong relationship between family visits and the rapidity of cure. There was no significant difference in the state of cure rapidity in patients who had frequent family visits (X2= 1.41, db = 1, P = 0.05, KK = 0.02).
