Summary: | ABSTRACT
Wood is highly demanded in Bali as handicraft and structural material, but procurement is still a problem. Many species are used and they come from different origins such as ebony (from Sulawesi), sawokecik (Bali and Java), cendana (locally), sengon (Java and Bali), nangka (Java) and many species from Kalimantan.
The demand is recorded 184.015 m3 annually, yet Bali supplies only 2250 m3. Another 180.000 m3 should be injected every year, but most of it are stil a problem. Efforts are needed to solve the problem such as timber estates, tree farming ans forest plantation in Bali.
