It needs to understand the condition of Poso ex-refugee in Palu holistically. The understanding concerns with the characteristic of ex-refugee and any strategy to survive against susceptible condition in socio-economics. As a matter of fact, it is necessary to do a research of Poso ex-refugee in Palu especially the time after Declaration on Malino. The objectives of the research are to find out the socio-economic condition of Poso ex-refugee in Palu and to discover the difference and variation in living strategy based on social characteristics and demography.
This research uses quantitative and qualitative approach with household analysis unit. Data are gathered purposively, with 150 respondent. Frequency distribution and cross tabulation technique used as analysis method.
The results of the research show: the strategy of living among Poso ex-refugee is grouped into 4, they are: do economizing, have side jobs, develop social net, and utilize family member. This kind of strategies is done with in concern and uncertainty, it isproven that 98% among the ex-refugees live under poverty, based on the difference in food expenditure and total expenditure percapita, with the average age of 39. Moreover, the average number of household member is 4, mostly children or people under the age of 15. However, although they live properly, they don not have their own houses. In accordance to demography characteristics, there is a difference in living strategy, in this case, of head of the family ex-refugee gender. Household headed by a woman tends to be economical, meanwhile man heading a household tends to make use of household member. However, it also happens other demography characteristics, the family with 1-2 member uses sosial networking strategy, while the family with 3-4 people members uses household member strategy. Living strategy according to social characteristic, in this case of education of head of ex-refugee household, indicates a difference in living strategy. The ex-refugees having basic education choose to be more economical, the refugees having secondary education make use of household member, while those having higher education and those with no degree develop social network.
