This research aims to identify and analyze the market structure of textile and apparel industries in Indonesia. Hence, it focuses on its performance (productivity value based), main location of clusters, and factors that affect its average productivity value of each company in both in 1996 and 2001. Concentration ratio (CR4), location, company's size, wage and imported input goods were employed as factors that effect its value in those times.
The result showed that textile and apparel industry had monopolistic competition market structure with very high competition level both in 1996 and 2001. The average productivity value of textile and apparel industries in Indonesia was higher than manufacturing industry. The main clusters of textile and apparel industries in those years were located in Jabotabek, Bandung, Semarang and Sukoharjo. The average productivity value of each company in textile and apparel industries both in 1996 and 2001 were significantly influenced by the concentration level, company's size, and by usage of imported input goods. Increasing in average productivity value of each company in textile and apparel industries increasing could be reached by controlling the concentration level, company's size (in connection with wage) and usage or the price of imported input goods. Location and wage were not significantly influence the average productivity value of each company in textile and apparel industries in those times. By the way, their located still around main clusters and its possible for them to get any advantages from the cluster by the spillover effect of clusters.
