PT TELKOM as an incumbent operator tries to upgrade its information technology in supporting its six strategic policy to achieve a new vision and mission in this competitive world. Therefore, the company implements Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System that can support company business activities by adopting the best practice of SAP R/ 3 which has been applied widely by leader telecommunication companies all over the world. The purpose of this research is to evaluate some aspects of the implementation of ERP System in connection with company's develop-ment as a whole, and the effectiveness of company's business management.
Development of information technology needs a good and intensive preparation, planning, and control. It needs an appropriate method to achieve its success, to be well received by users, and also to avoid rejection of the system that has been applied (resistance to change). One of the system devel- Opment method is SDLC (System Development Life Cycle). To evaluate the effectiveness of system development used by PT TELKOM, we analyze the steps of system development in SAP R/3 project.
The result concludes that the system development used by PT TELKOM, modified SDLC method is able to accelerate the implementation of a project in a halfway, and the system can go live on time. This modified SDLC method, which in developing SAP R/3 system, uses Magian method introduced by implementer consultant. The steps of this Magian method are préparation project, conceptual design, detailed design, realization, and production sup-port.
