Summary: | ABSTRACT
The research was done in Trawas Sub -District, Mojokerto Regency, East Java Province. The objectives of the study were (a) to identify the mineral deposits based on landform approach and (b) to evaluate the landform for mining activities. Materials used in the study were thematic maps and rock samples for laboratory analysis. Landform classification and mapping are the main input in the sampling design. Stratified random sampling was used in the selection of sand and rock samples. Physical data were geology, geomorphology, hydrology, landuse, minerals type and the existing mining activities. The results of the research show that the suitable area for mining was located on the isolated hills and volcanic foot slope, while non suitable area was located in the volcanic cone and slope. The two sites of mining activities were not recommended to be continued because of land slide hazard.
