A dengue haemorrhagic fever (DHF) outbreak was reported in the Teras sub-district of the Boyolali District. The diagnostic criteria used in the outbreak were inconsistent and did not meet the WHO criteria. This was partly caused by the difficulty in determining the day of fever onset. Rumple leede test, routine blood examination for hospitalized 'eases, such as, thrombocyt count and hematocrit concentration, were not conducted for every ease. Case definition used in the outbreak was based on fever or death of the cases.
