Facts show that informal sector or street traders are unregistered, illegal and in some cases are forcibly removed by the urban authorities. They operate without a license. This condition put them in a floating mass position and marginalised them from legal protection. However, the informal sector contributes to creating job opportunities, alleviating poverty, and generating income for the local government.
Based on considerations to conditions above, it is not possible to wipe out the informal sector activities because they will create social and economic problems in urban. In contrary, the urban authorities should manage the informal sector activities by promoting three alternative policies: locational, structural, and educational policies. These policies are wished to reduce negative effects of the informal sector activities.
