Summary: | Background: Since the introduction of both bossiness and social orientation in managing health care organization, hospital management is forced to enter hussiness-like competition model. The competition then forces the management to use tactics and strategies to gain more market share and increasing revenue. To some extend this condition is favorable but if there are no government or public awareness of the negative potentials then public interests might he disturbed. Examples of tactics and su�ategies used by certain hospitals that might disturb public interests include supplier induced demand, tnisleading promotions, the use of "marketer" in admitting patients to hospitals. intentionally giving limited information, and unnecessary treatment. Patients since the existence of information asymmetry in health care may not realize such tactics.
Results: to anticipate such actions that may disturb public interest there are three strategies which arc law enforcement. moral approach. and system approach. Law enforcement may not he too effective since there are relatively few data to prove such tactics. Moral approach may effective but it may take time. System approach may he the most effective approach. With such approach. attitude could alter simultaneously. The form of system approach include the implementation of health insurance which will control (along with other parties) the quality of medical treatment and the need of health care. Such system usually named Manage Health Care System.
