| Summary: | Background: various data of the maternal health program have been collected in the village level in order to make decision on how to reduce and solve maternal health problems. Unfortunately, they only produce little information for its public health center. It is because many data are manually recorded (traditional written assessment) into various book registers, therefore it will take significant time for recording and reporting and it also reduce attention toward quality maternal health services.
Objective: the objective of this research is to compare the maternal health data and information quality level between public health centers, which apply database system, and a public health center, which uses traditional written assessment. Methods: this research uses quasi-experiment design and quantitative and qualitative methods for data collection
Result: data and information quality is higher, especially in term of usefulness timelines, and completeness, in public health centers which apply database system both with combination of service and community-based data than in public health center which use manual-traditional system. However, there is no availability and integrity differences of data and information in both public health center as mentioned above.
Conclusion: database system increased data and information quality. However, it did not increase data and information availability and integrity. Public health center is recommended to use database-system and has to manage the health information system effectively.
