cryptic species complexes are groups of closely related species that are difficult of impossble to be didtingueshed by morphological trait. These complexes are knoe from a wide veriety of arthropods and are common among the well-studied,medically-important insects.Various methods have been developedfor identifying the species of individual specimen from these complexes.Recently, the use of polymerase chain reaction(PCR) to amplify DNA has become widespread.By the development of PCR method that employs a single, 10 base long primer of arbitrary DNA sequence, random amplified polymorphic DNA(RAPD) was used to differentiate closely related species. The Problem discussed is whether the RAPD.PCR is effective to differentiate cryptic mosquito species. This method has been applied in many studies to answer the problem. It proved to be a quick effective mean of finding genetic markers to separate populations of morphologically indistinguishable mosquito.
