Description
Summary:The geomatics technology, especially remote sensing technology, has developed sensors capable of producing satellite images such as "IKONOS" images with very high spatial resolution (0.6 1m). However, the high spatial resolution has no high values when its geometric positions are not well corrected. The combination of the use of high spatial resolution image and the DGPS will be able to produce high quality information of objects in the earth surface in terms of both the content and its geometric positions. Information about land use with such quality is very useful in support of urban planning and management. This research used a high spatial resolution image "IKONOS" which was corrected using primary data obtained through the application of the DGPS (Differential Global Positioning System) in the City of Yogyakarta. The combination of both procedures (data processing of IKONOS and DGPS) lies resulted in the corrected IKONOS image with higher geometric accuracy. This image was interpreted to extract information about urban land use of Yogyakarta. This information then was contrasted with the actual conditions. The results show that the DGPS measurement was able to achieve sub-cm absolute accuracy. The use of the data obtained from this method in correcting the geometric positions of IKONOS image was able to achieve sub pixel accuracy. This research applied a land classification scheme covering 9 land use classes developed by Sutanto et al. (1981) to classy the IKONOS data of Yogyakarta city. The scheme was selected because of the large volume of data and the actual land use in Yogyakarta. Spatial analysis using GIS (Geographic Information System/SIG) in this research show that there were changes in land use classes, particularly the agricultural class into the settlement class.
