Summary: | ABSTRACT
Background: Limitation of the Government's human resources and National Move¬ment forced Ulin General Hospital to anticipate the future better. This means that Ulin General Hospital should improve its planning quality by increasing the capability, of the planners, growing the sense of belonging, loyalty, and responsibility.
Objectives: The aim of this study was to apply forecasting steps to inpatient service requests, and to analyse the role of planner's commitment in the relationship be¬tween improving knowledge improvement and inpatient planning quality at Ulin Gen¬eral Hospital, Banjarmasin.
Methods: This cross-sectional survey study used a close ended-questionnaire. The subjects were 38 inpatient planners. Data were analysed using statistical test and partial correlation, correlation, and presented descriptively.
Results: Rice forecasting method could be applied in Ulin General Hospital with some modification relevant with the local condition. There was an increased of knowledge among the inpatient planners. The correlation test showed a positive relationship (r=0.90) between increased of knowledge and inpatient planning quality. This coeffi¬cient slightly decreased (r=0.89) if controlled by the commitment of planners.
Conclusion: In applying Rice forecasting method at Ulin General Hospital, Banjarmasin, there should be a socialization of the concept and studies on hospital information system and human resources. A positive relationship between increased of knowledge and planning quality at Ulin General Hospital, of Banjarmasin, was moderated by the commitment of planners.
