Legal protection and its enforcement are facing a number of problems for example lacking of understanding of intellectual property system especially copyright protection and poorly aware atmosphere in society particularly in acknowledging other peoples creation and expression of ideas. In addition, the implementation of this system is still in process with several challenging circumstances, which are social and economic factors.
This paper will discuss the protection and its enforcement of copyright system in Indonesia, with a specific topic on creation of literary works especially books. It gives information of copyright system, provides several practices in books industry, and discusses some issues within copyright, including role of publishing company and argumentation by a counter-copyright movement. In the end, it concludes that motivation and participation of stakeholders in area of literary, works shall be improved so that copyright system may benefit authors and other parries in its use operation.
