Description
Summary:ABSTRACT This research aims at describing (i) semantic types of adjectival Iexeme of deadjectival verbs: me(N)-D, me(N)-D-i, and e(N)-D-kan, (ii) adjectival lexeme of deadjectival verbs: me(N)-D, ne(N)-D-i, and e(N)-D-kan analyzed from morphological perspectives, and (iii) syntactical behaviors of deadjectival verbs: me(N)-D, me(N)-D-i, and me(N)-D-kan derived from its adjectival lexeme type. To achieve those objectives, some steps were carried out, including data collection, data analysis, and presentation of results. In collecting data, the note-making method with the employment of reading and note-taking was -utilized. The data triangulation involving peer review from colleagues was also employed to assess the reliability and validity of data. The referential identity method was applied to identify semantic types of base lexeme and the distributional method with the employment of techniques of binary opposition, insertion, deletion, substitution, enlargement, and mutation was utilized to analyze morphological and syntactic behaviors. With reference to data analyses, the results reveal that adjectival lexeme of deadjectival verbs: me(N)-D, nre(N)-D-i, and me(N)-D-kan consists of three main types, namely adjectival lexeme of adjectives of condition, characteristics, and quality. In terms of the possibility of having affixation of me(N)-, me(N)-(/)-i, and me(N)-(/)-kan, adjectival lexeme are categorized into two types, namely A-1 and A-2. Each type consists of four sub-types: A-la, Alb, A-1c, and A-ld for type A-1 and A-2a, A-2b, A-2c, and A-2d for type A-2. The analysis of syntactic behaviours documents some following results. First, deadjectival verbs of me(N)-D derived from adjectival lexeme cannot be converted into verbs including intransitive verbs when the verbs state process, while deadjectival verbs of nze(N)-D derived from adjectival lexeme can be converted into verbs including transitive verbs when the verbs are process-action. Second, deadjectival verbs of ie(N)-D-i are generally categorized... Keyword: Lexeme, deadjectival verbs, morphological behaviors, syntactic behaviors
