Potential Use Baggasse and Molasses of Waste Sugar Factory as Mixed Substrates with Cow Manure in Methanogenic Fermentation Process

The study aimed to analyze the potential of sugar mill waste, namely baggase and molasses, to be mixed with cow manure as base-substrate for methanogenic fermentation. The study applied 4 treatments; P0 as control (100% cow manure), and other treatments using the comparison of mixture od cow manure;...

description The study aimed to analyze the potential of sugar mill waste, namely baggase and molasses, to be mixed with cow manure as base-substrate for methanogenic fermentation. The study applied 4 treatments; P0 as control (100% cow manure), and other treatments using the comparison of mixture od cow manure; baggase; molasses in P1 (50:20:30), P2 (50:30:20) and P3 (50:40:10). The paramater observed were water content, nitrogen, carbon, sugar, crude fiber, C:N ratio, and pH value. The analysis used in this research was descriptive analysis. The results showed that P3 with the micture of substrate (50:40:10) had the highest average value of nitrogen, carbon, ratio C/N, crude fiber, and pH value when compared to other treatments. Ratio C/N at P3 was 24,47, which was the closest to the ideal C:N ratio for methanogenic fermentation which amounted to 25. The pH value of P3 treatment was 7,05, also met the standards for fermentation process, ranging from 6,6 to 7,6.
