Description
Summary:Indonesia is an archipelago country which is located in tropical area. It has many renewable energy resources such as water and wind. These resources are scaterred around the country. These renewable energy resources can be conversed into electrical energy using induction generator as an isolated system. Induction generator can be selected because its has simple and robust construction, maintenance free, low cost and available in the local market. Generally, the induction generator is operated as an isolated system using self excitation (SEIG-Self Excited Induction Generator) which is produced by capacitor. In order to increase the capacity, paralel operation of the induction generator is applied. The aims of this research are to determaine the characteristic of SEIG, to analize parallel operation of SEIG and to develope practical paralel operation procedure. The research was done by simulation using software and then verified with experiment. The results showed that SEIG required capacitor as self excitation. In the paralel operation, they did not need special synchronization. The generators must be in negatif slip condition. Load sharing between two generators is determined by the rotary speed of the prime mover. Finally, based on the experiment the practical paralel operation procedure has been developed.
