Description
Summary:Sustainable forest management demands a balance in harvesting quantities and production ability from the managed forest. Recently, community forest becomes a new idol for community in land rehabilitation and for wood industry entrepreneurs in fulfilling raw material. In Gunung Kidul, teak is the main choice for the community to cover their land. This plant is also became interest of wood industries, particularly local industries, since it has good quality and easy to handle. However, lack of information on teak's increment in the community forest causes problem for farmers in regulating for the optimum yield. The research aimed to determine the increment of height and volume of teak planted on two community forest types, i.e.: wooden type which is dominated by perennial trees and periodic type which is dominated by cash crop. Through stem analysis approach, growth reconstruction of teak with obvious growth rings could be done, thus data and information on its annual growth intensity could be known. Each of community forest type was harvested and 20 trees samples of those were measured. Based on the analysis results on increment data in this research, it was known that function to predict diameter breast height (dbh) and height (h) based on age, i.e.: for periodic type: dbh = 1/(0,21 *(0,9261 age», and h =1/(0,3*(0,927Iage», and for wooden type: dbh = 1/(0,213*(0,93 1 age», and h = 1/(0,3*(0,924Iage». Besides that, it was revealed that average annual volume increment for planted teak was 0,016 m3/th for periodic type and 0,015 m3/th for wooden type. .
