description | Electric vehicles have been considered as one of the measures to reduce emissions in Indonesia. The paper aims at understanding public acceptance toward electric vehicles in Indonesia. An empirical survey involving eighty respondents was conducted to collect data on the technical performance, the usage, the perception of electric vehicle as well as the respondents' characteristics. The data was analysis using multinomial logistic regression (MLR) to identity the significant factors explaining the acceptance toward electric vehicles. It is found that the technical performance of electric vehicles, the use of electric vehicles, perceptions of electric vehicles, and consumer characteristics are all to be significant in public acceptance of electric vehicles. Among the factors, the technical performance appears to be the most significant, whereas the usage factor (operating and maintenance cost, supporting facilities) is least significant. The application of MLR and potential interventions to improve public acceptance of electric vehicles in Indonesia are presented. Avenues for potential future research are also discussed. © 2022 IEEE. |
