Summary: | Currently banking supervision in Indonesia is still considered weak. One of the causes that lead to the weak supervision in the banking sector is closely related with the institution and the function of banking supervision itself. This article discusses the present and future state of the institution and the function of banking supervision. This article concludes that Bank Indonesia in its function of banking supervision is not fully independent, whereas there is no conflict of interest among its functions. Moreover, in the future, the Financial Services Authority (FSA) will become the institution taking over this function of banking supervision, even though the reason behind the formation of FSA in banking supervision is
still weak.
