They were also used to resist the uplift force that acted on construction, for instance uplift force that acted on transmition tower due to wind load, and moment. This moment could be caused by the breaking of cables that caused the uplift force on one side of tower feet. In this case, the piles should be design to resist that uplift forces.
This research concerned on the behavior of floating piles on clay and sand soil due to uplift load. The floating piles were modeled on test box in laboratory. The material used for the piles were plexyglass. The diameter of piles (d) were 2.5 cm. The variations were on the length of the piles, L, the distance between piles, s, (center to center) and the number of piles used in the model.
