Summary: | The aim of this study is to obtain the characteristics of paddy grains fluidization in a rectangular cross-sectional column in order to achieve several fundamental aspects required for the development of fluidized-bed paddy dryer. In particular, this study analizes the effects of column geometry on the characteristics of gas flow rate - pressure-drop relationship during the bed fluidization. A conical and constant cross-sectional columns were constructed and deployed to show the effect of geometrical feature of each column in fluidizing the bed. The gas flow rate ranging from 0 to 25 m3/h directed vertically upward upward into the column. The bed height varies from 15 cm to 35 cm measured from the distributor plate.Result shows that fluidization on rectangular-column requires higher air flow rate and pressure than those of its counterpart |
