description Creb-2, a gne resistance to an Indonesian isolate of cucumber mosaic virus (CMV_B2) in melon cultivar ‘Yamatouri’ has previously been described as single dominant gene. Eleven melon resistance gene analogs (MRGAs) were initially isolated to elucidate the resistance mechanism when used as a probe for restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) analysis against ‘Yamatouri’ and ‘Vakharman’ for the Creb-2. MRGA1 was then developed and two set of sequence-tagged site (STS) primers (MRGA-11 and MRGA-21) were designed. However, only MRGA-11 primers produced a polymorphism. The MRGA-11 was applied for linkage map of Creb-2 in 104 F2 progeny. Linkage analysis showed that genetic distance of MRGA-11 to the Creb-2 was 0.96 cM. MRGA-11 marker could be used for screening of CMV-B2 resistant cultivar in F2 populations and makuwa melons.
