| Summary: | Reading fluency is an important target in reading. Reading fluency will
affect students' academic abilities. Reading unfluency affect mastery of
the material on other subjects. Reading fluency is the ability to read a
discourse accurately, quickly and use the rhythm. This can be done by
providing a training of reading program. "Terampil Membaca" program is
a reading assistance program which apply in small group, and organized
to improve students' reading fluency. The purpose of this research was to
determine the effect of the "Terampil Membaca" program in increasing
reading fluency. This research used a quasi experimental method with
"one group pretest posttest design�. Participants of this study were seven
second graders, who attend "Terampil Membaca" Program. This program
applied in 10 sessions, where each session held during 45-50 minutes.
The Wilcoxon matched Pairs Signed Ranks test were used to analyzed
the data. Results showed a increasing reading fluency after the
administration of the "Terampil Membaca" program (Z = 2,366, p <0,05),
it is indicated that "Terampil Membaca" program improve reading fluency.
