Summary:The purpose of the research is to obeserve whether parenting, student development and conducted activities plays a role in building the ideal performance of a student. This research also intends to seek out the difference of the ideal performance between performance student with prominent figure, activist student, and non-activist student The respondent/main subject of this research are 115 performance students from State Universities in Surabaya, Jember, and along with the Private Universities students who participate in the selection of Kopertis Wilayah VII Jawa Timur in 2007, 2008, 2009 and also the 15 national-ranked students who passed the selection of performance students based on the selection in 2007 and 2008. The comparative subjects will be 48 prominent figures and 138 activist students, and 145 non activist students from Universities in Surabaya, Malang, and Jember. Based on the regression analysis using SPSS 16, it is found that: Parenting, Student Development, and Conducted Activities, collectively, play the role in building Student Ideal Performance. Furthermore, parenting plays a role toward the Ideal performance of Performance Student. The same thing happens to Prominent Figure and Non-activist student group, while on Activist Student group, Parenting doesnot play a role on Ideal Performance. Student Development plays a role toward Ideal Performance of Performance Student. This doesnot happen on Activist Student and Non-activist Student group. On these three group, the Student Development doesnot play a role toward Ideal Performance. Besides, Conducted Activities plays a role toward the Ideal Performance on Performance Student, Prominent Figure, Activist Student, and Non-activist Student. There is a difference on Performance between Performance Student with the group of Prominent Figure, Activist Student and Non-activist Student. The performance of performance student is more ideal than of prominent figure, activist student, and non-activist student. There is a difference on Parenting, Student Development, and Conducted Activities between Performance Student with the group of Prominent Figure, Activist Student and Non-activist Student. These three variables are better on the Performance Student than of Prominent Figure, Activist Student, and Non-activist Student.
