Summary: | This thesis discusses the research on how to modify a car alternator into
electrical generator 3 phase 220 volt 600 rpm. These generators can be used as a
main element in pico hydro power plant, which can then be used to convert the
potential energy pico-scale water that is widely available in Indonesia. Potential
energy in an optimal tilled into electrical energy will be very useful for citizens in
remote areas who do not have a grid. Scarcity or shortage of electric energy for
the community especially for people in remote areas can be supplied by this
generator as a tool picohydro power plant.
In principle, the generator voltage E is proportional to round n, the
number of wire Z and the number of lines of force / magnetic flux F. Based on
these principles and geometric measurements of the rotor and stator core has been
done to modify on the car alternator 12 volt DC, by way of rewind of the armature
winding and the alternator field coil. The number of wires each groove of the
stator original 12 to 600 bar, and coil field in the rotor wrap original 500 to 6000.
The goal is to spin 600 rpm with an input voltage of 220 volts can be generated,
60 Hz, which further electrical energy can supply electricity to lighting or other
electrical equipment in general.
The result is a car alternator which originally require batteries and lap
1000 s / d 8000 rpm to generate only 12-volt DC voltage, to be the generator
3 phase with a spin ± 600 rpm and without bettere can generate 235 volt voltage at
no-load and 180 volt AC, frequency of 61 Hz at load. From the loading
experiment, the generator is capable of supporting a maximum load of 3 pieces
14-watt CFL lamps, each equivalent to 75 watt incandescent lamp.
