| description | The research was conducted in Komodo district, West Manggarai regency and
research locations inside and outside Komodo National Park. With the aim to determine
community participation in planning and implementation stages in the conservation
program of the Komodo National Park and the factors that influence with people's
participation in Komodo National Park management.
The research method was using survey method approach by applying descriptive
analysis.The response in this study were residents living within and outside the Komodo
National Park as the island of Komodo, Rinca and the village Kerora and Papagarang
Island, Labuan Bajo village, Gorontalo village, Menjaga village, Kukusan island, Mesa
island, Seraya island, Warloka village and Soknar village, who works as a fisherman and
private sectors. The total of samples were two hundred respondents which consist of
ninety nine peoples in the region and one hundred one peoples outside the region. The
samples in this study based on a stratified proportional random sampling method. The
variables used consisting of the independent variables that is of public knowledge about
the benefits, of destruction and the prevention of damage to the National Park Komodo and
dependent variable, namely community participation in the management of Komodo
National Park in the conservation program at the planning and implementation stages. The
data were collected by using deep interviews and structural interviews.
The research revealed that the participation of the community, both private sectors
and fisherman in Komodo National Park management in general is still low which is
55.5%, both within the region and outside the region. The low participation is due at the
planning and implementation of community conservation programs, both fishermen and
the private sector is less involved. While public knowledge about the Komodo National
Park is generally relatively moderate / good enough that is 67.5%, both inside and outside
the region. This is because the knowledge society, both fishermen and private sectors
about the benefits, damages and prevention of damage to the Komodo National Park is
relatively quite know. |
