Summary: | The government of Ambon is try to strengthen the roles of private sector to
meet infrastructure and good service for people. One example is by developing
maritime tourism in Nusaniwe subdistrict. This research intens to describe the role of
private sector in developing maritime tourism in Nusaniwe subdistrict of Ambon and
to evaluate factors determining such roles success. The research used deductive
approach and purposive sampling technique. Data was obtained through
observations, interviews, and other secondary documents.
The research found four important points. First, the role of private sector in
developing maritime tourism in Nusaniwe subdistrict is to provide infrastructure and
management in each tourism object, including: attractions, accommodations and
other facilities. Secondly, private sectors played different roles based on their
creativity. Thirdly, the role of private sector in developing tourism in each tourism
objects quite was success this is indicated by the increase of tourist visits,
infrastructure development, and job apportunities. Fourth, factors determining the
success of private sector in developing tourism development in Ambon is effective
communication by emphasizing negotiation in problem solution, strong and
professional human resource, and sufficient fund. In addition, there was support
from management, and coordination and trust to each other. This research suggests
government and private sector to improve their creativity and innovation in
developing and managing tourism industries. For further research, it is important
further analysis the impact of coastal tourism object in this area to the welfare of the
people
