Summary: | Introduction: The study of academic and student affairs administration
documentation of Panti Rapih Nursing Academy Yogyakarta in 1993-2009
showed that almost every year there were students who pregnant
because of the behavior of premarital sexual relations. Lecturers have an
important role in preventing the occurrence of premarital sexual behavior
among college students through health education.
Objective: To measure the effect of health education in preventing
student behavior of premarital sexual relations toward the increasing
knowledge, attitudes and communication skills of supervisor academic
lecturers and non supervisor academic lecturers.
Methods: A quasi-experimental research design was comparison group
pretest-posttest nonequivalent. The subject of the research were 8
supervisor academic lecturers and 6 non supervisor academic lecturers
who were divided into experimental group and control group. The data
collection used questionnaires in order to measure knowledge, attitudes
and communication skills. Statistical analysis used paired t-test statistical
test and independent t-test statistical test with significance level of p <
0.05.
Results: The characteristics of the experimental group and control group
have equality before the intervention. After the intervention there was
significance increasing knowledge and communication skills of
supervisor academic lecturers. However there was not significant
differences of knowledge, attitudes and communications skills among
supervisor academic lecturers compare to non supervisor academic
lecturers.
Conclusion: Health education increased knowledge and communication
skills for supervisor academic lecturers but it did not happen to non
supervisor academic lecturers. |
