Summary: | Livestock waste in the form of broiler feces generates environmental
contamination because odor causes many flies is becoming disease spreader. This
thing generates social problem in the form of complain from public around so that
the relation of social becoming not harmonious. To overcome the problem one of
alternative can be done by the way exploited broiler feces to produce biogas as
renewable energy, but broiler feces fluctuate of amount, therefore required
another material, cow dung as alternative to guarantee material continuity supply
to produce biogas. Hence here important is done research with aim to know
difference influence of composition of mixture broiler feces with cow dung to
volume of biogas and percentage of methane at biogas. Besides that important to
know public response especially broiler breeders to implementation from
exploiting of broiler feces to produce biogas as renewable energy.
Exploiting research method of broiler feces becomes biogas in laboratory
scale, Equipment in the form of biodigester batch system was applied in the form
of capacities mineral water gallon 20 liters. Material was applied in the form of
fresh broiler feces , fresh cow dung, contents of cow rumen as inoculum, and
fresh water . Comparison of broiler feces volume with cow dung : 0:1, 1:0, 1:1,
1:2 and 1:3. Addition contents of cow rumen 10% from total volume. The
material mixture is thinned with water with comparison of 1:1 so that is formed
slurry (mixture like mud) then is packed into biodigester and fermentation anaerob
in room having temperature between 25oC - 30oC during 40 days. Parameter was
measured from slurry in the form of hydrogen ion exponent (pH) and temperature,
volume of biogas production and percentage of methane. Measurement of
hydrogen ion exponent (pH) and temperature of slurry be done at day 0 ( not yet
fermentation ), hereinafter observation done to starts 5 day from fermentation
Temperature and biogas volume is measured every day, hydrogen ion exponent
and gas rate methane is measured by every 7 day once. Besides that , done
flammability test from biogas production. To know comments from broiler
breeders to exploiting of feces broiler becomes biogas alternatively energy source,
done through questionnaire to broiler breeder opinion.
Result of research by using slurry 14 liters indicates that from mixture
broiler feces with cow dung 1:3 yield the highest biogas 140,92 liters, percentage
of methane 45, 92 % was reached at day 26.These composition of slurry has ratio
C/N 20,5. Broiler breeder 100% agrees to exploit of broiler feces becomes biogas
as renewable energy alternative of but they tell has not understood how to make
biogas, and undercapitalized problem. Therefore need training to help them
especially from related institution.
