Summary: | The requirement of fishmeal product by fish farmers from year to year get
worked up and hard for meeting it caused by aquaculture industry that getting
continually increases, and also caused by fishing capture industry in high sea that
have reach over fishing, it is aggravated either with the high price of feedstuff for
fish and the raw material that stills depend on product from outer state, to solve
that problems, its require some solution to find alternative raws material feedstuff
for fish.
Vegetable waste that stills have protein content average 2-4 % obviously are
still get improve it by change it as maggot or prepupae (Hermetia illucens) passes
through process biologist by utilizing of black soldier flies (Hermetia illucens).
Black fly maggot's conducting on culture media as vegetable waste by using
bioconversion pot that equipped with temperature controller, with temperature
setting in each pot is 25ºC, 28ºC, 32ºC, 36ºC, 40ºC and 45ºC at cultivation time,
and give result with variation effect. From sixth temperature different treatment
we can assume that the life cycle of black soldier fly is starts from larva until pupa
(adult maggot) in optimum manner to be done on 36ºC with relative humidity
(RH) around 78%, it marked by larva growth already reach maggot's age just
require 9 days and on this phase maggot can be harvested. Where on
normal/natural condition (without given by temperature conduct) larva growth
becomes maggot adult requires 15 21 days or 2 3 weeks.
At least 20% of vegetable waste that utilize as cultur media can be converse
become black soldier fly maggot, larvae consume large quantities of vegetable
waste, and self harvesting prepupae (maggots) can be used as a feedstuff
especially for fish. Proximate analysis of black soldier fly maggot with dry
weight (water contain < 10%) that cultivated on culture media of vegetable waste
such as protein 32%, fat 5%, ash 3%, and crude fiber 3%. From this analysis
result we can make conclusion that maggot which cultivated on culture media
from vegetable waste apparently qualified SNI about feedstuff for fish.
