Summary: | This study discusses about the shift of traditional inheritance system in Pattae
society which derived from the Toraja ethnic in Polewali Mandar, and to
determine the consistency of the inheritance system in Pattae society with the
origin society Toraja, the factors that influence the changing of inheritance system
and how the implementation of the inheritance system of Pattae society today.
This research is descriptive analysis, which give description about the object and
its problems thoroughly and systematically based on data acquired in respect of
inheritance system imposed by society Pattae '. The method through a normative
and empiric approach and then to get the conclusions use inductive logic
approach, which originated from the specific things and then general conclusions
drawn.
The inheritance system of Pattae 'in Polewali Mandar which derived from the
Toraja society have an individual inheritance system with the difference that
parents house is given to the last child by not questioning the gender. In the
implementation of equal rights of inheritance are excluded to all children,
meaning that every children receive an equal share of rights, excluded because the
last child receives parents house. The shift of inheritance implementation in
Pattae' society is influenced by habits factor, marriage factors, culture
acculturation and traditional law factors.
