territory quickly by parachute.
This research was conducted to determine the extent of airborne personnel
(PUO) readiness in support of the Army Airborne Unit - Jakarta. Research was
conducted by the Directorate of Army Supply & Transport - Jakarta
(Ditbekangad). The research method used was based primarily on survey data
collected through interviews with respondents being representative of
Ditbekangad personnel - air transport services - and the 5th Army Supply &
Transport Bn /Perbekud. In addition to the interviews, data collection included
documentation and observation, through descriptive analysis techniques which
developed quantitative and qualitative analysis results.
The result showed that the preparation of an airborne organization to support
the deployment activities of Army�s airborne personnel is not optimal. This is
because the inventory does not match the needs in accordance with the program
for individual and collective training as well as the method of procurement which
is not in sync with the dwindling number of parachutes for army training.
Procurement of parachutes is conducted in accordance with the limited budget
provided. Hence the number procured to meet their needs is not in accordance
with the amount of parachutes that have been disposed. The implication of which
is there is an increased frequency in parachute use, thus accelerating its life cycle
to disposal to ensure the safety of parachutists.
These findings suggest that the parachute preparation concept which has been
made needs to be tailored to suit Army individual and collective training programs
as well as the need for unit operational readiness and gradual Army Airborne
procurements over 10 years. Every year as much as one-tenth of the minimum
parachute stock is calculated as being needed for individual and collective training
as well as unit readiness for Strategic operations. The annual requirement is for
51,566 units therefore we need 5,157 units. For the next 10 years we need 516 sets
per year to ensure: the capability of Yonbekang-5/Perbekud and Ditbekangad |
