| Summary: | This thesis focuses on the responses and motivations of the community of Gereja
Masehi Injili di Minahasa (GMIM) church in Telap, Minahasa, when this community had
to deal with the ecological crisis of Lake Tondano. Telap village is situated in east shore
of Lake Tondano where the villagers are exclusively relied on the lake�s resources for
economic necessities. Since the last six decades the lake level has been decreasing up to 1
meter per year and in recent years its surface is covering by water hyacinths. In such a
crisis, there is only GMIM church community in Telap among tens of church communities
around the lake area that started to have direct action of conservation.
