The protocol that is used to treat patients with Acute Lymphoblastic
Leukemia in Dr. Sardjito Hospital is Protocol Chemotherapy Indonesia 2006 for
childhood ALL. The protocol consists two protocols namely high risk and
standard risk. Both of these protocols have the same initial phase, induction phase
which has the purpose to destroying leukemia cells as much as possible. The aim
of this study was to determine differences of mucositis incidences and severity of
oral mucositis in patients undergoing chemotherapy protocol standard and high
risk and to determine the location of mucositis based on keratin tissue.
. The subjects of this study were
twelve patients with ALL aged 2- 10 years and been followed-up during induction
phase of chemotherapy standard risk and high risk protocol in Dr. Sardjito
Hospital, Yogyakarta. The mucositis are asseses using modified criteria WHO and
OAG. The location mucositis are examined by dividing the mucosal tissue based
on its keratinized.
The results of this study showed that there is a difference of mucositis
incidences in patients undergoing chemotherapy standard and high risk. The
degree of severity of mucositis patients with standard risk different from patient
with high risk. Mucositis more often in non keratinized mucosa rather than
keratinized mucosa. The conclusion from this study are mucositis in patients with
standard risk protocols more frequently and more severe than high risk protocols. |
