Summary:Information traffic at Politeknik Negeri Bandung becomes increasingly dense, this situation demands more suitable network infrastructure. This study presents a concept of network infrastructure at Politeknik Negeri Bandung based, it utilizes a top-down approach. Network development includes a backbone network, the naming of the network segments, selection and configuration of the VLAN network model replace the existing LAN network model. While the backbone network topology was chosen ring topology accordance to the Campus environment conditions. The Simulation of the network performances carried out both the existing LAN network model and VLAN network model using an aplication program of OPNET IT Guru Academic version. The results of the simulation indicates that the VLAN network model with ring topology have better performances than the existing LAN network mode. The final product of this research is some recomendations that will be useful for developing ICT in Politeknik Negeri Bandung in the future.
