Summary: | Field of agricultural business is an economic sector which has the largest
contribution to PDRB accounts in Sumbawa Regency, and corn is one of the
prominent agricultural commodities in contributing to the output . A region with a
huge potency in cultivating corn is Labangka Sub District.
This study aimed to determine the factors that influence the production of
corn, measure the efficiency of production factors on corn farming, and to analyze
the farmers revenues from the corn farming in Labangka village, Sumbawa
regency using primary and secondary data. The primary data were collected
through a structured interview to 50 sample farmers selected by purposive
sampling method. The secondary data was supporting data of the research that is
obtained from relevant government agencies. The analytical tool used was
multiple linear regressions to the Cobb-Douglas production function using
Ordinary Least Square (OLS) method.
Estimated results of the selected production model indicated that factors of
production used in the corn farming such as land, seed, labor, urea fertilizer, and
pesticides together or partially, influence really and significantly the corn
production, based on their elasticity amount of production factor it was known
that between the factors of production and the production of corn has a positive
relationship, and the corn business under the study was in the increasing return
result scale (increasing returns to scale). The results of the efficiency level
measurements on corn farming indicated that the farming was not efficient yet,
thus it needed the volume of production factors adding so that the use of
production factors became efficient. Based on the analysis of revenue, although
the farming was not executed efficiently, the farming in the area of the research
could be profitable for the farmers.
