Summary: | City of Tarakan is an island in the Northern Territory of East Kalimantan that has no
material rocks but sand, which has quite a lot. So far the materials that are used in every
process of building facilities and infrastructure is material brought in from outside who
are economically very expensive and it took quite a while in the mobilization such as
sand and crushed stone materials from Palu, Toli-Toli, as well as East Malaysia Tawau.
Fine aggregate material (local sand Tarakan) and coarse aggregate (crushed stone) from
East Kalimantan Sekatak Bulungan who has never been studied in depth but has some
use in the manufacture of concrete, especially non-structural concrete. This study aims
to determine the nature and characteristics of local sand and crushed stone from Tarakan
Sekatak as material for normal concrete.
In this research, the materials used are locally Tarakan sand, crushed stone Sekatak
Bulungan origin East Kalimantan, Portland Cement Type I brand Tigaroda and water of
Gadjah Mada University Building Materials laboratory. The design is set with mortar
