description | This study was conducted to know the effects of stagnant water depths and
light intensities and their interactions on the growth, morphological and
anatomical structure of Limnocharis flava (L.) Buch.
The study was carried out using factorial completely randomized design.
The first factor was water depth at four levels, i.e: 0.0, 5.0, 10.0, 15.0 cm
respectively. The second factor was light intensity i.e: 25%, 50% and 100% of full
sunlight respectively. Six replicates were made for each combination treatment.
Parameters measured were total fresh weight, total dry weight, root and shoot dry
weight, petiole length, length and width of leaf blade, length and width of stoma,
stomata density, stomata index, leaf blade thickness and root diameter. Collected
data were analyzed using Anova and Duncan´s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at α
= 5% level.
The result indicated that high inundation and low light intensity reduced
fresh and dry weight, leaf blade width, leaf blade thickness, length and width of
stomata, stomata index and root diameter |
