Summary: | Results from the International Conference on Population and Development
(ICPD 1994) in Cairo agreed to change the paradigm of the approach to
population control and fertility decline, becoming more toward reproductive
health approach with due regard to reproductive rights and gender equality. Both
male participation in family planning practices as well as in maternal and child
health care including the prevention of maternal mortality are still low. Male
participation in family planning practice is strongly influenced by the attitude of
men towards family planning program. In forming these attitudes there are several
factors that can influence it, such as social demographic factors (age, education,
income, religion, occupation, residence, etc.) as well as the influence of family
planning KIE program exposed by the community, whether it KIE through
personal, group, or mass media.
Quantitative descriptive research is applied in the hope that is able to
describe the implementation of the policy on male participation in family planning
practice. More specifically about the relationship and influence of family planning
information on male participation in family planning. Which in turn can maximize
the role of family planning KIE in promoting the participation of men in family
planning.
