| description | Background: Maintenance of vaccine cold chain is the backbone of
immunization program. The implementation of immunization should be of
good quality in order to contribute to program by minimizing morbidity,
disability, mortality of infants and under fives and reducing communicable
diseases. Adherence of staff in the maintenance of vaccine cold chain is
still relatively low as proven by the result of monitoring by Kediri, Eeast
Java Municipal Health Office in November 2009.
Objective: To identify the effect of use rain card with audit to adherence in
vaccine cold chain by health staff.
Method: The study was a quasi experiment that used pretest-post test
with control group design through observation and structured interview
method. Location of the study was Kediri, East Java Municipality and
population were health staff responsible for vaccine cold chain at the
private practice of doctors and midwives, health centers, private clinics
and hospitals providing immunization service. The independent variable
was to use rain card in audit of vaccine cold chain and the dependent
variable was adherence of health staff. Inclusion criteria: health staff
responsible for vaccine cold chain maintenance at Kediri Municipality and
exclusion criteria: health staff responsible for vaccine cold chain
maintenance that had got training. Samples were taken institution group.
Data analysis used univariate, bivariate and multivariate technique.
Statistical test used paired and independent t-test, correlation, anova and
linear regression.
Result: There was difference between the experiment and the control
group before and after the intervention (p<0.05). Increased adherence was
found in the experiment group after the audit.
Conclusion: Audit intervention use rain card contributed significant
change to adherence of health staff. Change of score of adherence in
health staff was greater in the experiment group than in the control group. |
