ABSTRACT
The objective of this study is to examine the influence of the attributes of
an alliance of business development strategy in enhancing competitive advantage.
This form of testing the feasibility and appropriateness of these strategies with the
company.
This sample is one of the BUMN in the forestry industry, namely Perum
Perhutani. BUMN are companies most often do business development but the
results are often not as expected. This research uses TOWS Matrix as a tool to
analyze the data. Analysis results showed that the position of the company are in
quadrant II, where the company's dependence on resource-owned company is still
very high. Then strategic alliance Perum Perhutani performed up to form a new
business unit called RUPHR, is a very positive effect on the continuity of the
company's growth. External factors are very influential or high-value 4 is the
absence of market standardization of quality and price of timber owned by the
community, as well as the opportunities of carbon trading. Then the internal
factors are very influential or high-value 4 is the gap between demand and supply
on demand for wood, land availability for production, the performance of
employees who are less competitive.
Perum Perhutani management in improving the success of the alliance
needs more attention to attributes of existing alliances. The attributes of these
alliances is the company needs to continue to create advantages that can compete,
in order to be a dependency of other parties, especially communities such as the
legality of a strong, broad marketing network, and has experience in the forestry
industry. The advantages of having the highest coefficient is equal to 4.
