Mouthwash will contact with oral mucosa, teeth and restorative materials. The latest
development of composite resin restorations is associated with nanotechnology such as nano
composite resin and nanohibrid. This composite resin has superior mechanical properties.
The aim of this research is to find out whether there are differences in microhardness of
nano and nanohibrid composite resin on the use of mouthwash with and without alcohol
content.

This study methode used 30 samples of nano and nanohibrid composite resin (each
15 samples) with a cylindrical shape that is height of 2 mm and 5 mm in diameter. The
samples were divided randomly into six group, each group consist 5 samples, and then
soaked in alcohol mouthwash, no alcohol and artificial saliva (control) for 24 hours.
Microhardness of composite resin to mouthwash was tested with Vickers microhardness
tester and the results were analized using two-way analysis of variance and
Tukey test to determine differences between groups.
The results showed that the microhardness values of nano composite resins soaked
in mouthwash containing alcohol was lower than the nanohibrid composite resin soaked in
mouthwash containing alcohol. The results of statistical calculations using two way
ANOVA showed that there were significant differences in microhardness of nano and
nanohibrid composite resin on the use of mouthwash with and without alcohol content
(p <0.05). |
