There are two kind of probiotics, lived and tyndallized probiotics. Tyndallized probiotic is sterilizated probiotic which can not produce the active metabolit but still can make effect in human imunity. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of tyndallized probiotic on WHO standard therapy in children with acute watery diarrhea. Design of this study was prospective experimental research, with single blind method in children age between 3-60 months which diagnosed as acute watery diarrhea at RSU Gunungsitoli Nias, Sumatera Utara. Taking sample with simple randomized method and parents interviews.. From 100 acute watery diarrhea cases which fulfill the inclusion and exclusion criteria, devided into 2 groups : 50 cases with WHO standard therapy for acute watery diarrhea only dan 50 cases added tyndallyzed probuotics in WHO standard therapy. There is no significant difference between basic characteristics in this two groups. Diarrhea duration for group which added tyndallized probiotics was 4,6 ± 2,3 days and 3,95 ± 1,3 days on group with WHO standard therapy only (p > 0,05). Diarrhea frequency in the fifth days for group which added tyndallized probiotics was 1,56 ± 0,67 and on group with WHO standard therapy only was 1,90 ± 0,99 (p > 0,05). There is no significant differences between added tyndallyzed probiotics on WHO standard therapy and using WHO standard therapy only to decrease duration and frequency of diarrhea
