| Summary: | Mental retardation is common intellectual function below mean that happened from they were born or at early days of children so that they find difficulties in adapting to its environment. Is marked with the result of measurement intelligence less than 70 and do not have the social skill or show the behavior which is disagree with its age. For that, target of this research is know how parents� acceptance to children mental retardation with all its limitation. This subject research is three of parents� owning children mental retardation in Temanggung. This research type is qualitative research with the case study approach. This research used interview and observation to collect the data. Results showed that ware not easy to guide the children mental retardation with all its limitation. Parents� require many patience, diligence, honest and also big sacrifice to guide the children to get there independence. Through that all parents� will be able to accept its children situation positively. Reaction of that acceptance in the form of thinking process (cognitive), feeling (affective) and behavioral (conative). There are two factors that able to influence the parents� acceptance toward children with mental retardation, such as internal factor and external factor. From analyzed existing data and known by that acceptance aspect which is the necessary for parents� is cover the communications aspect, attention and affection, parent involvement with the child and also trust to child.
