| description | Background : Treatment of infertile women with polycystic ovary syndrome
(PCOS) is still controversial. Before the intervention given, preconception
counseling should be related to the setting lifestyle, especially reduction of body
weight and overweight women. Hyperandrogenism has implications for the
incidence of oligo or anovulation, ovarian wall fibrosis, hirsutism, acne, seborea,
enlarged clitoris, and blocked breast growth.
Objectives : To analyze patients polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), especially
androgen levels and the success of ovulation in PCOS patients.
Design : This study was a cross sectional.
Methods : The subjects of this study were patients polycystic ovary syndrome
(PCOS), aged 15-45 years in RSUP. Sardjito Yogyakarta selected using
consecutive sampling design between August 2008 - February 2010. PCOS
clinical criteria defined by diagnostic criteria based on the Rotterdam 2003. Forty
respondents who diagnosed PCOS tested serum testosterone levels at the
beginning of the cycle and made observations on the success of ovulation on day
12 of menstruation, once every 2 days to find any ovulatory or not. Then
analyzed with statistical programs..
Results : Mean testosterone levels, body mass (BMI), and age of respondents
was 0:49 ± 0:45 ng / ml |
